Wood blinds give any space a classic elegance that's natural, warm, and inviting. There are so many different styles of window blinds that you can find several which go well with any design style. But sometimes having so many choices makes it difficult to find just the right window covering, especially for small rooms or odd windows.

Choosing Wood Blinds For Small Spaces

When you are designing a small space, the size of the decorative elements you choose will make a big difference in the outcome.

Window blinds are a decorative element that can really uplift the overall design of the room. But, they can also be oversized or garish-looking for a small space if you choose the wrong style, so be careful about a few things when choosing window blinds.

When choosing wood blinds for a small space, the key is making sure that they stand out some but not so much that they stand out like a sore thumb.

Wood Blinds For Bay Windows

Either wood blinds or wood shutters are the perfect window treatment for bay windows. There are many different types of bay windows, so you should know which type you have.

Bow windows vs. bay windows – Bow windows have four or five windows and bay windows have three.

Triangular bays – Three windows with two windows set at an insides 120 degree angle to the center window.

Bay window, canted – The front bottom portion on the outside of the bay window is flat rather than curved.

Bay window, oriel window – The front bottom portion on the outside of the bay window is supported by a bracket, corbel, or something similar.

Wood blinds look marvelous on all types of bay and bow windows. Some suggestions for choosing the perfect blinds for bay windows:

Consider the available natural light – Installing very dark wood blinds on a dark window doesn't work as well as choosing a light wood finish. Knotty alder wood blinds would be beautiful in this case.

A quality finish is a must – Your wood blinds need a durable finish to protect the wood from sunlight exposure and moisture, especially if your bay windows are located near the kitchen or in direct sunlight.
